Remembering Clint Smith, A Local Community Leader
With deep regret and sadness, we announce that Clinton S. "Clint" Smith passed on April 26th peacefully at his home. Clint was the motivating force behind the Ida May project and the Christeen Oyster Sloop Preservation Corporation.
Horseshoe Crab Tagging - 2021 Season
The WaterFront Center is excited to be returning (safely) to the New York Horseshoe Crab Monitoring Network for the 2021 tagging season, this is our 9th year participating. Participants assist with the collection of scientific data that is used to assess the status of horseshoe crabs in New York State and will help determine the management and conservation of this important species throughout the region. Due to COVID-19, the number of volunteers will be limited and all participants must pre-register by contacting our site coordinator and confirm prior to the scheduled survey date. Volunteers who do not schedule their session with our site coordinator will not be permitted to participate.

Dawn Riley: Sailing Through Barriers
Meet Dawn Riley, a world-class sailor and the Executive Director of Oakcliff Sailing, a non-profit organization that teaches sailors to race at a high level, while also preparing them for careers in the sailing industry. Dawn herself has participated in multiple Whitbread Round the World and America's Cup campaigns, even being a part of the first all-female crew in a Whitbread Race known as Maiden.

Learn How You Can Join The Community Oyster Garden Program
Dip your toes into The Oyster Bay/Cold Spring Harbor Community Oyster Garden Program at an upcoming Online Public Info Sessions on March 25th or April 5th at 7 pm. Learn about the training, equipment, and ongoing support necessary to successfully “garden” juvenile oysters in floats off your waterfront property (i.e., bulkhead or dock) or at a community oyster garden site, like the one planned for The WaterFront Center.
