Spring Kayak Conservation Cruise 2021
Celebrate all the flora and fauna that Oyster Bay and Cold Spring Harbor have to offer with a cruise around our local waters guided by Friends of the Bay and The WaterFront Center.
Friends of the Bay and The WaterFront Center are partnering for the second year on the water for the Kayak Conservation Cruises. The first of three for 2021 is scheduled for Saturday, May 15, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. (Rain date: May 16).
We will be launching at 9 am from Village of Laurel Hollow Beach (1492 Laurel Hollow Rd, Syosset, NY 11791)
Participants will depart at 9 a.m. for a two-hour guided tour led by Breann Ross, a naturalist from The WaterFront Center, and Bill Bleyer, author, historian, and president of Friends of the Bay.
Last year The Waterfront Center and Friends of the Bay came together to host the first annual Kayak Conservation Cruise on Saturday, July 18th, and then again on September 14th. The goal of the cruise was to bring awareness to our beautiful bay and provide our community with a new on-water event, while still practicing safe social distancing. West Marine has once again donated a paddle to raffle off to one participant!
Get involved May 15th and have a great day of socially distanced fun with your friends, family, community, and all the bountiful nature Cold Spring Harbor has to offer! You never know what animal might stop by!
Participants can come between 8:00 am and 9:00 am to sign in and get on the water to comply with social distancing guidelines.
Parking is available at the Village of Laurel Hollow Beach.
Participants will depart at 9:00 am for a guided tour lasting approximately two hours.
Special event pricing is $55 for a single-seat kayak rental and participation fee and $65 for a double-seat kayak.
The tax-deductible participation fee for those with their own kayaks is $20 per adult and $10 for children under 15.
Proceeds from this event will support both organizations in their endeavors to educate the public and build a community of stewards to protect these natural resources.
