Community Programs & Partnerships
To ensure that everyone has access to the water, The WaterFront Center provides a variety of free programs for our community. These experiences are unique and valuable toward building a community of stewards that will continue to ensure that Oyster Bay is an available resource for generations to come.

Community Partners
We are proud to be working with local organizations to provide educational programming throughout the year at a low cost. We provide programming for The Youth and Family Counseling Agency, The B&G Club Oyster Bay-East Norwich, The Life Enrichment Center, and The North Shore Land Alliance. We continue to work towards our mission of providing universal access to water through education and activities for people of all ages.
Citizen Science
Horseshoe Crab Tagging
The WaterFront Center is a horseshoe crab survey site where volunteers can join our team to walk the beach during the evening high tides to count, size, and tag any horseshoe crabs found on Beekman and Theodore Roosevelt beaches.
Community Shellfish Gardening
Help raise oysters for continued health and clean waters within Oyster Bay/ColdSpring Harbor. Give back to the waters we call home by volunteering to help clean cages throughout the summer. For a small suppport fee, learn about the life-cycle of oysters, build cages, sort and clean oysters.
Sailing Outreach Programs
These programs run June through Labor Day weekend every 1st, 3rd, and occasionally 5th Sunday of the month.
ZigZag Adaptive Sailing
The Waterfront Center aims to get everyone out on the water regardless of age, skill level or ability. Advanced leadership skills, increased self-confidence, and camaraderie of teamwork are all seen by going out for a sail. The WFC has improved countless people’s lives through therapeutic sailing.

Veterans on Water (VOW)
The WaterFront Center honors veterans, who have bravely served our country, by providing them with the experience of sailing at no cost. Sailing is often recommended as a therapeutic outlet that combines the challenge of seamanship with the serenity of being on the water.
