Week 8 Youth Summer
Our last week of camp was a blast! The Bay Buccaneers (Gr 1 & 2) learned the parts of the boat, created sailboats out of tinfoil, and then raced them down the freshwater stream. Our Sound Swashbucklers (Gr 3 & 4) learned about weather systems and the distinct types of clouds. They followed their lesson up by making clouds out of DIY puffy paint! First Mates (Gr 5 & 6) went on a wildlife kayak tour and learned about the different types of birds around our areas, such as cormorants and ospreys. They also explored our oyster cages out in West Harbor, in which Oysters are being grown.
Opti Beginners (Ages 8 - 12) showed off their upwind skills and then ended the session with a quick splash in the water! Aventure Sailing explored the far side of Centre Island. Opti intermediate (age 8 – 12) used all the technical skills they learned and adventured to the other side of West Harbor! C420 beginner (Age 12 - 17) ended their week with fun relay races. Race teams celebrated the end of the season with a fun ride on the J105!
