COVID-19 YOUTH SAILING SAFETY POLICIES
The following is a short summary of the policies and procedures instituted at The WaterFront Center (WFC) that will create a safe environment while providing an enjoyable paddling experience for our customers and our staff. This page will be immediately updated with any revisions to these policies.
** We are closely monitoring the situation and all policies are subject to change. **
Social Distancing & Personal Hygiene
All participants are required to wear face masks in public areas, on our facilities, and on the boat especially when maintaining a 6 foot distance is not possible. All sailors will be required to wear a form of face covering. The face Covering must be able to withstand water and wind elements. Face masks will not be provided, however the WFC Buff will be available for purchase.
All persons must maintain a 6-foot distance between staff and other customers as much as possible, except when those persons are from the same household.
Participants are expected to arrive no early than 10 minutes prior to the start of your program time and to leave promptly afterwards.
No person(s) will be allowed to participant in programs at The WaterFront Center if they are exhibiting symptoms of the COVID-19 coronavirus. Participants are required to have quarantined for at least 14 days since they last experienced symptoms and/or tested positive for COVID-19.
Cleaning and Sanitation
Hand Sanitizer will be available for customer and staff use.
Sailboats, powerboats, life jackets, and other gear will be cleaned and sanitized after use by staff. High contact areas will be emphasized during cleaning.
Staff are required to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer before, after, and throughout the day.
Parent Responsibilities
All sailors will be required to wear buffs/gaitors as the protective covering; masks will not be permitted due to drowning hazard. If you sailor does not come in a buff, they will be sent home immediately and no refund will be issued for that missed day.
Parents must be no more than 30 minutes away during sailor’s program time in case inclement weather arises.
For any c420 Beginner or Intro to c420 Race Program: Parents must sign their sailor up with another sailor in your household or “quaranteam” since this boat is a double handed boat. If you do not have someone to sign up with, you will unfortunately not be able to register for summer programming this summer, and we apologize. When you are registering, please make sure to write down who your c420 partner will be when the question block pops up.
Sailors must already come with sunscreen on and a bag and reusable water bottle that is labeled with your sailor’s name on it.
Sailors will not be able to register for full day programming.
Arriving/Picking Up for Sailor’s Program
Please arrive on time, no earlier than 10 minutes prior to the start of your sailor’s program.
Please arrive and head to your designated area. We will have signs that say “Opti Beginner”, “Opti Race Team”, etc. Parents please make sure you are wearing face coverings when dropping off your child.
Check-in with the instructor and make sure all paperwork has been signed.
Parents please wait in cars until sailors come back to designated spots for pick up.
Bad Weather Conditions
The WaterFront Center reserves the right to cancel due to bad weather or no wind conditions for the consideration of the safety of our customers and staff. We will attempt to have a Zoom meeting with the sailors if we have to cancel.
We will try to make the weather call a day in advance, but some weather just cannot be planned. If a storm arises during the program, we will be calling all parents to come pick up their sailors (hence why parents must be no more than 30 minutes away from The WaterFront Center).
