All About Horseshoe Crabs

Monday May 4th @ 1:30pm – 2:00pm & 4:30pm – 5:00pm 

Have you ever seen a prehistoric monster? Well they are closer to you than you think. Horseshoe crabs have been alive for over 450 Million Years! How have they stayed around that long? You’ll just have to join us and a LIVE HORSESHOE crabs as we break down all the horseshoe crab facts!

WFC Naturalist: Shannon Kelly will guide you during this interactive lesson. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions.

Materials: Please have necessary materials ready prior to the lesson 

  • Paper

  • Color pencils or markers

  • PDF (emailed)

  • Scissors

  • Tape

Preparation: Gather materials and have PDF Handy (on computer or printed) 

Age Range: Elementary/Middle School; Students (K-2nd grade should have a parent present in the background)

Design-a-Fish

Wednesday May 6th @ 1:30pm – 2:00pm

Did you know some fish have bones and some fish do not? Let us take you through the basic structure of fish and differences in between species. At the end you’ll take your new fish knowledge and create your own species!

WFC Naturalist: Sarah Hall will guide you during this interactive lesson. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions.

The Secret Life of Water 

Friday May 8st @ 1:30pm – 2:00pm & 4:30 – 5:00pm 

Do you know how strong water is? We’ll show you how strong waters’ bonds are with a demonstration and interactive lesson and experiment with water. Do you think you have what it takes to work with water’s bonds? 

WFC Naturalist: Shannon Kelly will guide you during this interactive lesson. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions. 

Materials: Please have necessary materials ready prior to the lesson 

  • Large Tupperware

  • Water

  • Pennies or coins

  • Aluminum foil

  • Paper clips

  • Towel

Preparation: Place towel on top of working space, fill Tupperware/container with water, and ga other materials

Ranger Molly's Butterflies & Moths 

Wednesday May 6th @ 7:00pm – 7:30pmSaturday May 9th @ 2:30pm – 3:00pm & 7:00pm – 7:30pm

Join Ranger Molly as she asks you to find the differences between bugs and other insects, and compare butterflies with  moths. View live butterflies, moths and other insects.
