Decomposition

Monday June 8th @ 1:30pm – 2:00pm & 4:30pm – 5:00pm

Ever thrown a banana peel out into your yard and seen it disappear over the days? That’s called decomposition and we’ll show you what it takes to break down this term. Learn what's biodegradable vs man made materials that don’t break down for millions of years! Join us in learning how to do our part in keeping our earth safe!

WFC Naturalist: Sarah Hall will guide you during this interactive lesson. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions.

Materials: Please have necessary materials ready prior to the lesson

  • Paper

  • Pen/pencil

  • PDF (emailed)

Preparation: Gather materials and have PDF Handy (on computer or printed)

Age Range: Elementary/Middle School; Students (K-2nd grade should have a parent present in the background)

Culper Spy Ring

Wednesday June 10th @ 1:30pm – 2:00pm

Take a trip back in time to the American Revolution! Join us to explore the secrets of the Culper spy ring, a group of patriots brought together by General George Washington, which was instrumental in securing the Colonists' victory against the British! Once we explore the background of the spy ring, we’ll delve into the actual spy codes that they used. Help us decode the messages left by spies and maybe even write your own!

WFC Naturalist: Shannon Kelly will guide you during this interactive lesson. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions.

Join the WFC in our weekly Creature Feature. After our animal spotlight, enjoy a fun craft inspired by the WFC’s touch tank residents!
