Fall Kayak Conservation Cruise 2021

Celebrate all the flora and fauna that Oyster Bay and Cold Spring Harbor have to offer with a cruise around our local waters guided by Friends of the Bay and The WaterFront Center.

Friends of the Bay and The WaterFront Center are partnering for the second year on the water for the Kayak Conservation Cruises. The third cruise for 2021 is scheduled for Saturday, Sept 25th, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. (Rain date: July 18). We will be launching at 9 am from West Harbor Beach Memorial Park (10 W Harbor Dr, Bayville, NY 11709)

Participants will depart at 9 a.m. for a two-hour guided tour led by Cameron Jenness, Education Director of The WaterFront Center, and Bill Bleyer, author, historian, and president of Friends of the Bay.

Last year The Waterfront Center and Friends of the Bay came together to host the first annual Kayak Conservation Cruise. The goal of the cruise was to bring awareness to our beautiful bay and provide our community with a new on-water event, while still practicing safe social distancing. West Marine has once again donated a paddle to raffle off to one participant! This year these organizations are bringing seasonal cruises each Spring (May 15th), Summer (July 17th), and Fall (Sept 25th).

Get involved for the upcoming cruise on September 25th and have a great day of socially distanced fun with your friends, family, community, and all the bountiful nature Mill Neck Creek has to offer! You never know what animal might stop by!

Parking is available at the West Harbor Beach Memorial Park.

  • Participants can arrive between 8:00 am and 9:00 am to sign in and get on the water to comply with social distancing guidelines.

  • A complimentary beginner's paddle course will start at 8:30 am to help beginners or paddlers new to the area get acclimated before the tour.

  • Participants will depart at 9:00 am for a guided tour lasting approximately two hours.

Proceeds from this event will support both organizations in their endeavors to educate the public and build a community of stewards to protect these natural resources.

Please Note:

The WaterFront Center is complying with the COVID-19 safety guidelines set by New York State and The Centers for Disease Control.

All participants must sign an Assumption of Risk and Release of Liability Waiver prior to participation. Absolutely no one who has not paid and/or signed a liability form will be allowed to participate in Friends of the Bay & The WFC programs.
