The WaterFront Center's Basic Keelboat Certification Package is a comprehensive 4-day introduction to the world of sailing. It is designed both for students who have no sailing experience and for those who have some experience, but want to learn to sail correctly, and create a solid foundation. With our Accelerated Learning System, you will learn all the essentials of sailing quickly and more thoroughly than you thought possible.  After a brief classroom session (1 hour), you and your professional nstructor, and no more than three other students, will be at the helm of a 23’ Sonar on the morning of your first class. By the next afternoon, you will be in command of the boat through all of the fundamental maneuvers. When you are certified, you will be able to skipper a boat under 30’ in protected waters and crew on similar sized yachts in open water. Upon successful completion of this course you will recieve US Sailing Basic Keelboat certification. After accumulating time on the water, you will be ready to move on to our Basic Cruising class. Keelboat certificationenables the holder to rent small keelboats from The WaterFront Center and rental facilities worldwide. Fees include textbook, testing, one year membership to US Sailing and half off your first keelboat rental at The WaterFront Center.
