The WaterFront Center operates on public property managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the Town of Oyster Bay.  Funds to purchase the property from the Jacobson Shipyard came from these government sources, mostly under the direction of State Senator Carl Marcellino.

The Town’s territory includes the pier and northern perimeter along the bulkhead as well as Beekman Beach and the “Capone Property” between the State and Town boat ramps.  The DEC’s area is the landscaped parcel and boat ramp north of West End Avenue, and the land and sheds south of the road.  The brick “Building G” where the WaterFront Center has its offices is owned by the DEC.
