From Sea Shells to Sea Creatures - Pre K to 3rd Grade PDF Print E-mail
ImageWhile reading a wonderful rhyming and counting story, a collection of matching shells is created.  This helps the students begin the identification process before they go “shelling” themselves in large tubs filled with soft sand and a wide variety of shells.   Students use their senses to compare and contrast shells based on texture, shape, color and size.  Second and Third Graders may create a unique shell craft.  Connections are made from the non-living to the living as children explore a touch tank of local marine organisms and meet some of the creatures that lived inside the shells.  Weather and time permitting, programs done at our facility will conclude with a beach walk.
