Harbor Habitats - 1st to 4th Grade |
Explore and compare the three major habitats in and along the shoreline of West Harbor: Beekman Beach, the marsh area, and the fresh water stream. Using seine and dip nets, students discover what plants and animals make these habitats their home and how they affect one another. Identify adaptations for survival, including the means by which animals move, eat, and protect themselves. A live touch tank of local marine life will be provided for in-depth exploration. Learn how humans impact this environment, and discuss ways to conserve and preserve these harbor habitats. Program can be adapted to meet needs of classroom curriculum.
