Cadette Girl Scouts participate in groups of four sailing 19’ to 23’ sailboats with a certified sailing instructor. Girls complete the category of Skill Builders and its activities for the Smooth Sailing Interest Project, learning to rig the sails, leave from and return to the mooring, steer the boat, trim the sails and determine wind direction.  Safety and emergency procedures are covered as well as weather awareness and some navigational skills.
