Live out the week-long adventure as if you were truly a survivor stranded on a deserted island! Participants learn skills necessary for survival such as collecting and purifying water, building shelter, finding food, making fishing poles or collecting nets, and how to utilize solar power. Activities including adventure challenges, trust building exercises and the Anything that Floats Race, all foster problem solving skills, cooperation, and team work. In addition, participants will learn basic kayaking skills including different paddling and rescue techniques for their excursion. Thursday afternoon, survivors travel across the bay by kayak to camp out overnight under the watchful eyes of their naturalists. The self-sufficiency skills they learned throughout the week are put to the test, as they cook out under the stars and build shelter for the night. The following morning, they are "rescued" by the historic oyster sloop Christeen, and are returned to the waterfront center where they have the opportunity as a group th reflect on their experiences, their new found confidence and the valuable life lessons they have learned.
