WFC Presents Bay Day!

COME AND JOIN US!   LIVE MUSIC - FOOD - ANYTHING THAT FLOATS RACES and more!

Sunday, June 2nd, 2013 - 12pm to 5pm

Every year the WFC plays hosts to adults, children and families the first Sunday in June for Bay Day. During the event all WFC activities such as sailing, kayaking and Christeen sails are provided at no cost. It is our way of giving back to the community, promoting environmental awareness and stewardship while having a great time. We are excited to invite the community to experience all we have to offer and promote environmental awareness and stewardship; reinforcing our vision so they everyone can enjoy and preserve it for all time. Through Bay Day and its activities we share with the public the importance and connectivity of all environments as a whole and how to best recreate in them.

Beginning at 12pm on Sunday, June 2nd, Bay Day kicks off with live music, food, free sails aboard our sail boats, free kayak and stand-up-paddle board demos and much more! There are also going to be local organizations and vendors on hand promoting their message and providing activities. We also have a few special guests lined up including face painters, sand art, t-shirt decorating, a fishing derby and caricaturists! Bay Day Is the perfect event for the entire family and for friends to share a day outside. Interact with all the marine environment has to offer, learn some new things about its inhabitants and enjoy a sailboat or kayak ride while you're at it!

The high note of the day comes at its conclusion: The Anything that Floats Race kicks off at 4:30. Year after year participants have competed in this creative, fun and challenging event. Schools, groups, individuals, parents, children and everyone in between have built crafts out of bumpers, Legos, old plastic toy houses, barrels, the list goes on, and every year seems to top the last. Three divisions exist to create a fair and equal playing field giving everyone a chance at the top prize! The crowd gets into as they cheer for their favorite design from the beach. Some crafts don't even make it to the first mark, some make it to the finish line and sink immediately afterwards, but no matter what the outcome, everyone, every-year has an awesome time. We encourage all to build a craft either on their own or with friends and family. It's fun and free to enter, a perfect physics class project or at home craft. Give us a call and you can compete in this year's Anything that Floats Race. It is something you will never forget!

If you want to check out some crafts before building your very own next year, we invite you to spend the day outside enjoying all the WFC has to offer, join us!
